Five on Friday: Book Edition

A couple of months ago my best friend decided to start a book club. We've had two book clubs meetings alrady and are on our third. Since then I've also finished my masters and had more time so I can read for fun. It is one of my favorite things to do and I've been loving having a little time to myself. Here are five of the books I've read lately which are my current favorites! :)

1. The Ice Princess
I just finished this one and it wasn't what I expected but I really enjoyed it. It was a murder mystery with a little bit of a love story set in Sweden. I highly recommend it!

2. Half-Bad
This book is about witches and I did not enjoy it. I thought I would like it because I enjoy YA fiction but there were so many plot lines and they weren't very well developed, not a bit fan.

3. The Girl on the Train
I know I'm a little late to this party, but this book is SO GOOD! It kept me guessing the entire time and I read it so fast because I wanted to know what happened. I was satisfied with the ending which made me happy because sometimes these types of books can leave you unsure of how to feel.

4. The Husbands Secret
After hearing so much about this author I couldn't wait to read this book. It did not disappoint! It was another one that kept me guessing until the end, but I loved how all of the stories were intertwined and the seemingly perfect lives were incredibly imperfect.

5. The Girls of Mischief Bay
I just started this book and I am really enjoying it. It's a perfect book as we get into summertime. It seems like a pretty light read so far, but we'll see what happens!

One of the things I'm really looking forward to this summer is hopefully some more time to read!

Wedding Wednesday: 66 days!

Happy Wednesday! My wedding is in 66 days, ahhh!

There's some exciting news, our invitations are going out this week! I can't believe it's finally that time. It is getting so real, but I am so excited! Here's a sneak peek!

We are meeting with our Pastor tonight. This has been a long time coming, mostly because of our craz schedules. I am eager so nail down the plan for our ceremony since that is a pretty important part of the day. Also that means that then I can order my programs! We are thinking of doing something like the memory box below.

We are meeting with our DJ next week! I haven't come much closer to any of the music decisions but I guess I need to start making some decisions this weekend.

I'm starting to feel the stress, but I also am feeling really excited. Everything is coming together slowly and I can't wait to see how it all turns out!

Weekending: Memorial Day Recap

This weekend was such a blast! I was able to go and visit one of my best friends who is going to school down in Oregon. I left on Friday morning and headed south. The drive was only supposed to take under 4 hours but it took a little over 5. I was exhausted when I got there, but I didn't let that stop us.

We started with a trip to the mall, followed by a trip to fro yo, typical girls!

On Saturday we got up early and headed to the ocean! It wasn't the prettiest day, but it ended up being okay. We walked around a little bit and looked at the cute shops. I don't care what the weather is...I love the beach, sun, and sand.

We went out to dinner at a cute little Brewery and then got two movies from Redbox. We went with one fun and one more serious. I really liked Big Hero 6 and Wild was a little different from what I expected but it was still worth watching.

On Sunday we went and got pedicures! We also went to see Pitch Perfect 2! I enjoyed it but I also thought that there was some unnecessary vulgarity and sexual content. Maybe I'm just getting old and more prude but I didn't think ti was necessary for the movie. The story was cute, but I could have done without that.

It was an awesome 4 days off. Back to school, only 16 school days until summer! :D

Weekending: Commencement

This weekend was so much fun. It's always fun to be celebrated and honored, but the people in my life truly went above and beyond to make this weekend special for me. I don't think I really processed that it is an accomplishment to earn your Masters (or any degree) and every time someone said 'Congratulations' it caught me a little off guard because I just felt like I was doing what I was supposed to be doing. Either way, it was fun to be celebrated and I had a really awesome weekend.

The graduates had to get to the arena early to prepare for the ceremony so while I was bored I took some pictures of my regalia. Another tassel to add to my collection!

At one point they told us to all take out our phones and take a graduation selfie. This was mine! :)

I had a graduation party that night at my apartment and a bunch of my friends came over. One of the things I miss most about college is having a ton of people around all of the time, it was a fabulous night.

On Sunday morning we had a graduation brunch at my mom's house. She made so much delicious food, had the cutest decorations, and we got to enjoy the beautiful weather on the deck. It was a perfect morning and continued celebration. My brother and his girlfriend came, plus my other brother was home from college with his girlfriend, so it was a full house. That rarely happens anymore so it was great to all be together.

By the end of the weekend I had quite the collection of flowers. I may teach horticulture, but I'm not the best at keeping flowers alive. I spread them out around my apartment so here's to hoping they last at least a few days.

I'm feeling recharged and ready for this week, let's hope it's another good one. I think there's only 6 weeks left of school...but who's counting. :P
