Wedding Wednesday: Hair & Make-up Inspiration

I haven't been doing much wedding stuff lately because I feel like I'm just in a holding pattern waiting for it to get closer. One of the more recent things I have done is book my hair and make up artist which has been looking on pintrest for some inspiration.

Here are some of my favorites:

I am obsessed with this look. I plan on wearing a headband and a veil so it's perfect. I don't like loose hair or anything too poofy and I think this is the perfect combination. Simple yet elegant.

A similar style but a little more volume at the top.

I love her make up! I like the browns and think I will definitely be doing something that is more natural but with a little drama with the eyeliner and mascara. I also really want to wear false eyelashes but my mom is totally against it, so I will have to see how well my make up artist does in the trial.

Speaking of that, how early did you ladies do you trials? My wedding isn't until august but I don't know when to do it. I am tempted to do it earlier just so that I know for sure I want to stick with that team but I also don't want to seem rude for having it so early. Any advice??

weekending: the ocean!

This weekend was such a blast, we took advantage of the extra day off and headed to the ocean!

When we arrived on Saturday afternoon we walked along the beach and through some of the little shops in town. We watched the sunset on the beach and then went out for a fancy dinner for Valentine's Day.

On Sunday morning we got up and headed to Cannon Beach, known for their famous Haystack Rocks. We walked along the beach for a while, it was so nice to just walk and talk and enjoy the scenery and the sunshine! I must say we lucked out with weather. It was sunny and unseasonably warm, lower 60's, all weekend. It was amazing. :)

Sunday afternoon we played some games at the local arcade and then enjoyed happy hour in a bar with a view of the ocean. We watched the sunset again and it was a breathtakingly beautiful.

It was such a simple weekend but it was so special because it was just us, we were someplace different, and we were making those memories together. I loved every minute.

Valentine's Day...take 7.

I was thinking back on all of the Valentine's Days that C and I have spent together and realized we are on number 7! I thought it would be fun to write about all of them from the very beginning when we weren't even officially dating yet!

2009.
We went on a double date to a Mexican Restaurant with his friend Anita and her boyfriend. They aren't together anymore, but we are still really close with Anita. I remember that we went straight from a basketball game and I felt like a slob and she looked really pretty, thankfully he still liked me. :)

2010.
We went on a double date with our friends Jamie and Josh to a super fancy Italian restaurant in Idaho. We got this special Valentine's day meal which included Sangria and I remember being all freaked out because I wasn't 21. We also got some delicious dessert and I'm pretty sure he gave me a rose and a teddy bear I still have. It was super cute.

2011.
I can't find any photographic evidence of this year and I'm pretty sure we didn't do anything. I had turned 21 two days prior so we partied a lot that weekend. I think it was on a Monday which means I had chapter so I probably just met up with him afterwards, low key Valentine's day.

2012.
We went out to dinner to a different Italian restaurant in Idaho (if you wanted better food you left our college town and made the 8 mile drive to Idaho...who would have known they have better food).

2013.
We were dating long distance at this point and I went to visit him where he lived. We went out to a fancy restaurant, italian (I'm noticing a theme i hadn't even seen before) and I'm not sure what we did afterwards. He gave me a shovel that said, 'I dig you' with a bunch of chocolate. It was the cutest thing. :)

2014.

We were finally living together! We went up to the family fun center and played video games, mini golf, and laser tag. It was fun embracing our inner child. Afterwards we went to black angus for dinner (not italian!) and had the campfire feast. You get SO MUCH food, but it's delicious.

2015.
We are heading to the Oregon Coast this weekend and it's hard to believe, but this is our first trip together with just us. We've been on family trips, band trips, and trips with friends but never just the two of us so it's been really nice.

Happy Valentine's Day! Wishing you all a wonderful day full of love.

25.

It's my birthday!!! I turn 25 today and it has me thinking...

Life is pretty crazy and it's interesting to look back and see where you've been. I couldn't have asked for a better college experience, making lifelong friends, and meeting the man of my dreams. I also experienced a tragedy that I never thought I could overcome, but I did.  I lost someone close to be in a terrible way and while I don't go a day without thinking about it, I know that I have become a stronger person because of what I overcame. Life isn't always easy but knowing that I can make it through the hard times gives me a lot of perspective.

Without a doubt what I am most looking forward to this year is getting married. C and I have been together almost 7 years and I could not be happier to marry him. I am also completing my masters which I think is a pretty big accomplishment and I can't wait to have a break from school.

This birthday really only means that I can now rent a car but I think it's the beginning of a lot of great things. It is such a perfect, round, number and I hope that means lots of good things will happen.

My best friend and I are going out for happy hour after school and my mom is taking me to the Melting Pot for dessert. Then this weekend for my birthday/Valentine's day my fiance is taking me to the ocean. It's going to be a great few days of celebrations. :)

Weekending: 16 pages down!

I don't know about you guys but by friday afternoon I am so beat that I barely have the energy to do anything. Thankfully my fiance was on the same page this week so we had a good dinner at home and spent the evening on the couch. I was browsing wedding sites and he was looking at houses online, it was just the night I needed.

Saturday morning we got up and went to the gym. I wanted to go to ZUMBA and it was a blast. That's seriously my favorite workout, I wish I was able to go more often or that they offered it more nights a week.

I spent all day Saturday working on a literature review for my Masters. I got about 2/3 done which was awesome. My best friend came over and we did some bible study which was refreshing. I've been ready my bible daily but I don't always go as deep into it so she had some good questions that we worked through.

Saturday night we went out to dinner at a delicious restaurant and brewing company then went out with some of C's friends for one of their birthdays. It was me and 3 guys, which happens often with that groups, and I don't really mind. We were all close in college and they are both in our wedding. The boys drank and celebrated while I watched and laughed at how entertaining they were. Even though we didn't get home until almost 3am it was a lot of fun.

Sunday we went to church then did the normal Sunday things, cleaning, laundry, and grocery shopping. Sunday evening my community group from church went to a skating party/concert hosted by Brandon Heath. He was selling his new cd and also performed some songs. It was a lot of fun and a great night out with friends.

We have a short week this week and it's my birthday week! Yay!

Wedding Wednesday: Parent Gifts

One thing we completed last month was purchasing the gifts for our parents. I've already bought my bridesmaid gifts but I want to keep those a secret until after we give them. I don't mind sharing these sooner and since they came in the mail last week I thought it would be a good time!

We bought my mom as well as both of the dads glasses! My mom has the stemless wine glass in the picture above and we got our dads the ones below.

His mom doesn't drink so I got her a keychain. One of my friends did this for the moms in her wedding and I thought it was really cute. Plus it's a daily reminder of our wedding.

I am also thinking about getting some wine with customizable labels as well. I have a step mom and my mom has a boyfriend who has been a part of our engagement so I wanted to do something that is also to both of the couples, instead of just to my mom and dad so we'll see. They are pretty cheap and cute.

Did you give gifts to your parents for your wedding? What did you give and were they a hit?

Weekending: Superbowl!

Friday night one of my co-workers was having a birthday party so we decided to join in the celebrations. I invited two of my friends from work over to drink before we went. I was in the education program with both of them in college so it's crazy that we all teach at the same high school now. Also, one of them is married to a guy who also was in our ed program and teaches at our school, and who went to middle school with my fiance in a town 300 miles away...it's a small world!

Anyway, we went to a piano bar and it was SO FUN! I was singing, we were laughing, the pianists were not only amazingly talented singers but also comedians and great MCs. I had some delicious overpriced drinks and besides waiting almost an hour for the waitress to bring my card, that was annoying. We got some drunk mexican happy hour afterwards and got home around 1:30. I'm never out that late but it was so much fun to go out and do something different.

Saturday we had a lazy morning and then ran a few errands. I got some fabric and made a baby blanket for one of our friends who had a baby a couple of weeks ago. After an afternoon nap we went out to dinner and bowling with another friend from school. I won 2 out of the 3 games and was feeling pretty good about myself.

Superbowl Sunday started with church and then we went to my mom's for lunch. Even though we weren't staying there for the game she made us some delicious food and we hung out with her and her boyfriend for a few hours.

We headed over to a friends house for the game and a huge superbowl party. Some of our friends from drumline were there and we had a great time...until the last 30 seconds. My heart literally broke when the Pats intercepted the ball. The whole state of Washington is grieving.

Back to school/work tomorrow. It's february, which means it's my birthday month. yee! :)
