Christmas Recap.

My Christmas was better than I ever could have imagined. We spend Christmas Eve with family friends. We went over there and had a big lunch, exchanged presents, played some games and then headed off to church. Christmas Eve service is probably my second favorite of the year after Good Friday, there is such a sense of peace and calm, absolutely amazing.

This year I decided to start a married tradition of drinking champagne with our toasting flutes from our wedding and opening our presents to each other on Christmas Eve. It was great to have that time to ourselves and have those moments. I can see them being even more special as we get older and have kids and the alone time doesn't happen as often. I get so excited thinking about how our Christmases

On Christmas morning we spent the day with my Mom's family. Each year we get matching PJ's and this year we went with snowflakes.

One of the gifts that I was most excited for was tickets to the Pacific Rim Championships for gymnastics. I'm a big gymnastics fan (even though I never did gymnastics) and I watch all of the meets online and follow all of the National Team on social media. This is an event that is happening in my state and gymnasts from all over the world will be there. I'm super excited to be able to see these athletes competing in person just a few months before some of them will be at the Olympics.

I also gone a ton of other awesome presents, cute sweaters, booties, earrings, and a bunch of stuff for our apartment/future house. I am so blessed to have been able to spend this day with my amazing family and be given so many wonderful gifts. I hope everyone else had just as wonderful of a Christmas!

Weekending: Spring Break is here!

Friday night I went to Buffalo Wild Wings with my best friend and fiance for some drinks and dinner before we went to see Insurgent. I really liked it! I read the book a long time ago so I didn't remember it exactly so I didn't have any of the negative feelings that sometimes happen when a movie doesn't follow the book exactly. It was mostly what I remembered and I thought it was an overall good movie!

Saturday morning I spend the first few hours of my day watching gymnastics. I'm a huge gymnastics fan and the National Team was competing in Italy. It was the first time two of the girls from the 2012 Olympic team were competing so it was great to be able to see them. USA dominated and my favorites got 1st and 3rd!

Saturday afternoon we went to a color guard competition to meet up with some of my fiance's friends. He teaches drumline and drum corps so he knows a ton of people in that world. There were some awesome performances.

One of my cousins moved to Seattle a couple of years ago and I haven't been able to make it up there to see her so me and C went up and had dinner with them on Saturday night. They live in this awesome apartment with a rooftop area with tons of tables, a fire, grills, and the best views of the city. We had some delicious food and were able to catch up and enjoy the evening outside. We are going to make sure we do that more often.

sorry it's so blurry, I'm back in the old ages with an iphone 4s. but it's the seattle skyline with the space needle and big wheel!

Sunday we went to church and then just lounged around. It felt so good knowing that I didn't have to be all stressed about school this week. This break is going to be so good.

five on friday: what's on my mind

We've reached the end of another week. Yay! We have no school today as a state in-service day and I'm thrilled for the 3 day weekend. Here's what's on my mind this friday.

1. Gymnastics!

I'm a huge gymnastics fan and this week is hte World Championships so I've been waking up super early (today I got up at 4am) to watch them. I'm totally crazy but it's so fun and this only happens once a year! Go Team USA!

2. Silent Auction Fundrasier

I'm organizing an auction for my FFA chapter which is happening tonight. We have a ton of awesome items so I can't wait to see how it ends up turning out. We are trying to raise money for 18 students to travel from Washington state to Kentucky...so it's pretty spendy.

3. Getting healthy

This has been at the bottom of my priority list and I'm so unhappy with myself for not taking it more seriously. After this auction stress will be a little less and hopefully I can find some time. I really need to before it's too late.

4. My Wedding

(loving this look for the place card table)

Things keep falling into place and I'm slowing making more decisions about things that I want done. One of my friends (who is the mother of my flower girls who was also my 6th grade teacher) asked if we want and engagement party and I'm considering it. Is it weird to have one a couple months after you got engaged, or is it worth it to celebrate and see your friends? I'm torn. My mom and I are going to look at my venue today because she hasn't seen it and I'm excited to go back.

5. Money

I've been reading Dave Ramsey's Complete Guide to Money and it really gets me thinking. My best friend just went through financial peace university and passed along a lot of the tips. I want to make sure that while we are young we are managing the (little) money that we have in order to maximize it in the future.

Happy Friday! Linking up with the lovely 5 on Friday ladies. :)
