Wedding Wednesday: Day of Coordinator

All of the time that I have been planning my wedding I have been counting on some family and friends to help with set up/take down. Our venue includes the basic set up (tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and even the hurricanes and candles in the centerpieces) but there are some other touches that I want to add. I figured everyone would be able to handle it if I left clear instructions, plus my MOH would also have time when I am doing my first look to double check that everything is right since she is planning with me.

Fast forward to now and I have two meetings scheduled to meet with day of coordinators.

There is a sales manager at the venue but she says that she doesn't help with anything on the day of. I also kinda can't stand her. They fired and hired a new lady after we signed the contract and we weren't even notified which left a sour taste in my mouth. I don't want to have to count on her for anything.

Does anyone else have experience with day of coordinators, were they worth it? Thankfully both of our parents have been beyond generous and money is so much better than I ever thought, so we can afford it, it's just a matter of me being okay spending the money.

I'd love some wise words or tips for interviews too, is there anything I need to look for in someone besides just our personalities meshing and them being well organized?

Linking up, happy Wedding Wednesday!

  1. We had a day of coordinator at the church as well as a separate lady at the reception venue and I couldn't have done the day without them! They kept everything on track so I didn't have to worry about a thing!

  2. Having a day of coordinator is amazing and will make your day (and everyone else's) so much easier. The biggest thing to ask is how close they book other weddings, if they have a wedding more than 5 days before or after yours, I would go with someone else. A Day-Of-Coordinator should start handling vendor calls/emails/etc a 3-4weeks prior to your wedding, this will allow them a good relationship with all of the vendors before your day arrives.
Being one myself, I would be happy to look over anything they send you to check and double check the contracts, if you wanted. I am happy to answer any other questions for you too! :)

  3. That really stinks that the person at the venue doesn't do any of that! Unfortunately, I do not have experience with a day-of coordinator, but thanks for linking up and I bet some of the other ladies will have some great ideas for you.

  4. You 100% will not regret hiring a day-of coordinator! It relieves you of all the stress and also allows your bridesmaids/guests to enjoy their day as well. It's a lot of pressure to put on someone to make sure everything is exactly as planned, so leaving that up to someone who's getting paid to do so and knows what they are doing is a great idea!! It's definitely one of the expenses that I absolutely do not regret and would have paid even more for, now that I know how important it was to making our weekend perfect. Heck, I started my own wedding planning side business simply for that reason (and also because I'm obsessed with weddings!). Good luck!!!!
